Black DOg PsychOtherapy

Black Dog depression

is a therapy practice started by me (Meredith) in 2024. I serve adult, young adult, college-aged, teen, and tween clients living in Illinois and Texas, currently all virtually (but stay tuned for future in-person offerings in Chicago!). Black Dog Psychotherapy commits to providing anti-racist, feminist, body neutral, gender and identity affirming, inclusive, and accessible services to all clients.

Why Black Dog?

“The black dog” is a metaphor for depression (made famous by Winston Churchill, but we don’t need to spend any more time talking about old white men here). I believe that all of us have our own black dog in our lives. For some, it’s a giant Newfoundland that lays on our chest and pins us down, making it impossible to get out of bed each day. For others, its a stray Chihuahua barking at us from afar. Taking care of our black dogs can be exhausting and overwhelming; as a dog person, I’d be honored to help.
